چکیده
This data article contains an atlas of paste fabrics and supplemental paste compositional data generated from Late Middle Preclassic-period ceramics at the Maya site of Holtun, Guatemala. The data include maps showing locations of archeological contexts, excavation profiles, photographs and photomicrographs of sherds and paste fabrics, and compositional data produced by Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA) at the Research Reactor, University of Missouri (MURR). The NAA data include a biplot and table of canonical discriminant analyses, Mahalonobis distance calculations, and Euclidian distance searches between the samples.

Archaeological application of airborne LiDAR to examine social changes in the Ceibal region of the Maya lowlands
Although the application of LiDAR has made significant contributions to archaeology, LiDAR only provides a synchronic view of the current topography. An important challenge for researchers is to extract diachronic information over typically extensive LiDAR-surveyed areas in an efficient manner. By applying an architectural chronology obtained from intensive excavations at the site center and by...
متن کاملEarly ceremonial constructions at Ceibal, Guatemala, and the origins of lowland Maya civilization.
The spread of plaza-pyramid complexes across southern Mesoamerica during the early Middle Preclassic period (1000 to 700 BCE) provides critical information regarding the origins of lowland Maya civilization and the role of the Gulf Coast Olmec. Recent excavations at the Maya site of Ceibal, Guatemala, documented the growth of a formal ceremonial space into a plaza-pyramid complex that predated ...
متن کاملEarliest Mexican Turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo) in the Maya Region: Implications for Pre-Hispanic Animal Trade and the Timing of Turkey Domestication
Late Preclassic (300 BC-AD 100) turkey remains identified at the archaeological site of El Mirador (Petén, Guatemala) represent the earliest evidence of the Mexican turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) in the ancient Maya world. Archaeological, zooarchaeological, and ancient DNA evidence combine to confirm the identification and context. The natural pre-Hispanic range of the Mexican turkey does not ext...

Consequently, 16th century Europeans readily accepted the myth that the Maya and other indigeno...
متن کاملEffect of Current Density, Temperature, and Contact Paste on Flash Sintered 8YSZ
Flash sintering has been investigated as a modern sintering method through examining the effect of processing parameters such as current density, temperature, and contact paste on the flash sintered 8YSZ characteristic. 95% of theoretical density was achieved at 800°С in 30sec with a field intensity of 100V.cm-1 and a current density of 160mA.mm-2. Such relative density in conventional sinterin...
